What a better way to enjoy 103 degree temperature day than in a blow up pool?

After one too many temper tantrums because we wouldn't let the little dude outside due to it being too hot...we broke down and bought a pool for the backyard. At first he wasn't sure of it, he walked right up of course and played with the spray part of the pool...but surprisingly was uninterested.

So...daddy decided to get in and see if he would play...still negative. But after about 20 mins it was the next best thing to pour water in and out of a pail, and an endless amt of water at that! What could be more fun?

Then came the fun of climbing in and out of the pool, and all over again both ways.

Nothing like your very first splash pool on a hot summer day!

Happy Father's Day...Daddy!

What better way to spend and celebrate Father's Day than let Daddy do what he wanted to do. We of course tried to let Daddy sleep in...but forgot that the monitor was next to the bed and the banging that Dylan was doing in his crib was quite loud. Oops. But we got up and played and fed Dylan breakfast while he tried to catch some more Zzzz's....in which we colored and made Daddy's Father's Day card.

We headed off to get Daddy some breakfast and ran a few errands. But the best part was spending the day at the pool and hanging out! It was nice and relaxing and Dylan of course for the 2nd Sunday in a row wanted to not take a nap.

The day ended with a nice dinner courtesy of Chef de Mr. Wright. And with our son not going to sleep until 9 pm! I guess that is what we get for letting him go down for a nap at 4:30 in the afternoon. Ah well...what are you going to do?

He did find the Wright's patio quite entertaining and loved crawling up in the chairs. I really thought he was going to fall asleep on his own reclining in them...psych! Could have fooled Mommy!

Happy Father's Day to all our special Dad's! Sorry we couldn't be with you to celebrate this honorable day, but you are great Father's, Grandpa's and Friends! You mean the world to us and we love you!

OH and here is my most favorite picture of my boys!!! (courtesy of Jenny Miller Photography)

Doughnuts with Daddy!

So, Friday before Father's Day was "Doughnuts with Daddy" at daycare. Of course, they said it was ok if Mommy attended. So what do I do...I came along with camera in tow, of course!

It was really cute, Dylan's friend (Braden) and our friends (Mike & Katie) were sitting in the area with all the parents and kids. Cute little round tables about 3 ft high with little tiny green chairs. Of course, Mommy and Daddy looked like big giants in the chairs but Dylan climbed right up and sat down (like he had done it a million times)! He looked like a big boy…so certain and excited to be sitting at the table with his parents.

I tried to get a few good pictures. Of course, Dylan was so into everything that was going on, it was hard to get him to look at the camera.

Oh and the cute tie around Cody’s neck, Dylan and Melinda made for daddy to wear. Too cute!

Is this the start of his vocabulary?

Yup, this morning it was "Gunna" and "Didu" aka Titan.

My best friend...

These two are quite the pair these days.

Dylan laughs, squeals and giggles in delight of Gunnar running towards him. And then there are those times that Gunnar just takes the rough housing and sits and waits...and every once in a while (more often than not) gets a loving hug from our little man.

He's very affectionate and loves to show it with the dogs. (Most of the time the dogs are running from him every time he goes in for that tight squeeze...but this was just the best)!

Mmmm...yummy!

Just thought this was too cute. Our very clean boy, doesn't even like to have dog hair in his mouth on his hands or wherever. But this time...he thought eating grass would be YUMMY!

Poolside...on a hot afternoon!

Nothing too exciting this past weekend. Besides the fact that Dylan didn't want to take a nap all day Sunday. He woke up late, woo hoo! Then refused to take a nap. So we headed to the pool. Here he is sporting daddy's sunglasses. He is slowly getting to realize they help him in the bright sun!

14 Months...and growing!

It seems like yesterday this little one was just turning one! And now...he is 14 months old! Where does the time go?

He's definitely all over the place these days, and he is listening and understanding us a lot better. It's just crazy to say, "I'm going to the bedroom" and he follows me down the hall. It's just a completely different type of interaction with him. He such a little boy now.

We didn't have a checkup this month with the doctor...that will be next month for our 15 month checkup. But according to our scale and our measurements:

He weighs 23 lbs and is 30 1/2" tall.

Pretty much doing the same developmentally and has no new teeth. I keep thinking more are going to pop through but we have hit a dry spell on that side of things. He does try to show how he feels these days by throwing more temper tantrums, but if you talk to him or let him cry it out he slowly gets out of them and is onto something else.

He loves to brush his teeth with Mommy...and is pretty adamant about brushing his hair every morning with the comb.

His sleep patterns haven't changed over the past few months. Still goes to bed about 7:30 and wakes up at 6:30 or 7. He only takes one nap a day for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours right about lunch time. He's pretty much a happy go lucky kind of toddler.

He is quite the boy in that he ALWAYS wants to be outside. If he can't go outside, he throws a temper tantrum. We try to explain it is just too hot. So...we need to get a little swimming pool for him for this summer. It's just getting too darn hot!

He is eating a lot better these days, and will eat almost anything. He absolutely loves to share with you...he takes a bite, you take a bite. He is doing really well with feeding himself with the fork and will highly protest if he can't feed himself. About 70% of the time the food makes it in his mouth.

He is very very affectionate and loves to give you hugs or the dogs hugs. He has become quite dependent within the past two weeks on his "lammey" either "jack" the dog with a blanket attached or a bear with a blanket. He's starting to carry that around the house with him or when he is tired go and grab it from his crib. Maybe that will help us get rid of he pacifier. He still is on one bottle a night and have been slowly trying to weed that out, but not going so well.

He is jabbering and talking a lot more...but everything seems to be da-duh. What is that? He loves to flip through his books and either sing or mumble to himself. Quite cute...what is he saying or singing? He loves music and will bounce and clap his hands. I keep trying to teach him rhythm.

But most importantly our baby continues to have an arm on him. He can throw a ball across the room and you better not be in his way! Not only that his love for his golf clubs continues to grow. I think we have a sports fanatic on our hands. Whatever he is doing if it is sports on the TV he is memorized and will stop and watch and then continue on. Only time will tell! :)

What will he develop in the next month...?

Happy Belated Birthday, Nana!

We missed out on celebrating my Mom's birthday with her because she had to fly that night (which she said was a blast anyway b/c all of her friends on her flight made it a lot of fun)!

So we made plans with her to go have breakfast and head to the park. It was a nice relaxing morning and a good visit. I couldn't believe how hot it was already at the park and it wasn't even 11 am yet...Summer here we come!

Dylan had a blast chasing the ducks, to the point he would have walked right into the lake. It was a fun experience, it's the first time we went to the park since Dylan started walking. He loved it. He is so independent right now, he does not want to hold your hand while he is walking. Little does he know I am doing it to keep him going in the direction I want him to...but he quickly throws my hand down or away and off he goes.

We had planned to go home and take a nap, but an opportunity arose to go to the pool and hang out with some friends. How could we pass that up, even though it meant not taking a nap...I was ok with that! Relaxing pool side while Dylan napped was fantastic. He later enjoyed getting in and getting wet. (no dunking or submerging his head...so we were good parents)!

Little did I know the sunscreen I put on would not keep me from getting burned...is it old, expired? I am fried and look like a lobster on my back...it's been a while and it is not fun! Unfortunately, tomorrow is Monday and the weekend is slowly coming to an end...I hate this part about Sundays!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

After a relaxing morning we headed off to the mall for a haircut and new shoes for Dylan, which he was in dire need of both! That was a successful trip...we met up with Grandma and Grandpa for early dinner and a walk through town.

As always he was a gentleman at dinner...smiling and talking at everyone person that walked by. We decided to take a walk through Market Street on a beautiful evening and get to spend some time with the grandparents.

We let Dylan out of his stroller on the green. He anxiously walked through the green and over to the kids all playing in the water shoots (falls) whatever you want to call them. You know those things that pop water into the air...never knowing which one will come next?

Anyway, we walked over and just let him look. He was very curious but not so sure about the splashing in the face. We took of our shoes to let our feet get wet and before I know it we got splashed by some kids being silly. I finally handed him over to dad, so I could take pictures....and this is what happened.

So much for keeping him out of water and especially from water going up the nose...oops...sorry Dr. E!

All in all it was a nice afternoon with Grandma on her birthday!

Finally...a haircut!

Our little ones hair just kept getting longer...all around! And when he eats, he pulls his hair...which inevitable means that the food on his hands gets in his hair. Which then you have a hairstyle all done up thanks to crumbs and juices from lunch that day.

So...Cody finally said, I don't care...he's getting a haircut and short! No more of this letting it stay long business.

I do have to say so myself...he looks like a completely different kid. Which kudos to him, if I could give him a toy for being so good while sitting and letting Mrs. Cindy cut his hair I would...but I don't think he gets that yet! He sat like a perfect gentleman in daddy's lap...which was complete opposite to the last time we visited Snip Its where I had to pick him up and walk out because he was so upset!

Here is a before....and after (if only the after photo was as cute as it is in person...its dark and hard to tell the style he has going on!)

Some of my favorites!

1st experience with sprinkler and loving it!

What do good parents do when their child is sick...let them play in a sprinkler?! What kind of parents are we? Well, those in which if a child is acting like he feels ok and is adamant about running through a sprinkler and being exploratative...have at it!

It was very interesting. Being he is a kid that doesn't necessarily like water being splashed in his face...he took a few steps, wiped his face, and then off he went!

It was quite cute! He wanted to walk all over, through it and of course move it for us.

Oh yeah and daddy wanted me to add this comment ... "Are those Twankies, dawg?"

Butterfly kisses...oh so sweet!

So...I have patiently been waiting of my man to blow me a kiss. Every morning we practice, or shall I say I practice, as Dylan stares at me with a blank look and I eagerly try to show him how much fun it is.

I caught wind that he did it for Ms. Melinda at daycare too...one day, I knew he would do it...just wasn't sure when. Of course by this time I was wishing Auntie Vi could show him (being she showed all the kids on her street from very young how to blow kisses).

I have to say, this morning when I was feeling like complete do do, I turned around to tell him "bye bye" and I blew him a kiss (like always) and he put his hand to his mouth (like giving it a high five) and patted it then threw his hand out! It was fantastic!

Finally...I've got what I wanted, a special kiss by sweet boo boo!

So here is a picture of him blowing me a kiss but later that day in the bathtub!

What a cheese!

Ok, so I am not sure what has gotten into the dude...but he is and well I guess...has always been such a ham. He has definitely had no problem flirting with strangers and cute ladies. But it's the best when Mama gets that sweet cheese smile!

Last night he was taking a bath and was so proud of himself because he was standing, dancing with the fire man ducky...all the while giving Daddy kisses when he asked for it. Which is a first. Finally...how long have we been asking for a kiss? He's showing affection.

So, I came running to see and he just decided to give me that sweet wide mouthed cheesy smile! It's the best and oh so cute!

Yet another ear infection..

After an afternoon of being sent home from daycare with a fever and getting sick all over daddy, we headed to see Dr. E.

With his bug that he had that had made him sick, he discovered that he had a really bad ear infection. Which caused a secondary infection to have this rash break out. Mainly on his face, but as day two and three came and went it was all over his legs and back.

The unfortunate thing is that Dr. E threatened with tubes. He said this is the time of year that they shouldn't have ear infections b/c of colds and viruses but they are caused from swimming and water going up the nose. He said two more ear infections by July and he will send us to get tubes. I of course am against this...so we will try our best to keep our lil one very clear of anything that has to do with dunking, or submerging his head in water (like we had been doing at swim class).

Of course he said what do you, you take away all the factors. NO SWIMMING....ugh I find that hard to believe in this city...hot, humid summer weather means you can't go without getting in the pool to cool off. So we will just be sure to not let him get his head wet or water up his nose.

We shall see how it goes. We will remain positive and do our best to keep our little one healthy. I personally think it is the virus that was going around daycare since it was almost everyone little one had the same symptoms and illnesses.

Fingers crossed he will continue to take his meds in his yogurt...we like to think he's not catching on to us, but we shall see at the end of 10 days! So far...so good!

What could it be?

So after 4 nights of crying and fussing and sleepless nights for Mom and Dad,I figured it was inevitable that it would turn for the worse. He had a low grade fever so we thought it was teething...negative (or at least that didn't help), Mylicon...nope, Tylenol...jackpot!

But the worst part is when daycare calls stating he has a fever and is lethargic. Then...when he gets home he gets sick! So off to the doctor we go in the a.m. They think it might be a 24 hour bug but also an ear infection. Ugh...I thought we were done with this!

Hopefully he will feel better and we will all get back to a good nights sleep!

Words and Actions

Not much has been going on these past few weeks in the Gonzales household. But I do know one thing...our little man is starting to say more and more every day!

With mama, dada and dog already in his vocabulary...he loves to say outside, all done and I got it (or at least that is what it sounds like). One morning he took me by surprise because he said "comb"! He is infatuated with my comb and loves to brush his hair every morning. I kept saying comb and he said it, it was amazing!

He also loves, I mean loves, to look for airplanes. He can't say it quite yet, but he points and says "adee". He has even got to the point while driving in daddy's truck with the windows down, where he looks for them. He can hear them from far away and one night while on the patio an airplane flew by it seemed almost every 5 minutes. Needless to say it was entertainment.

As most know, he loves to point out his belly button. And just recently when you ask him where his nose is, he 50% of the time will point to his nose, but most almost always points at his forehead. He can point to our mouth and nose when asked...but he's not so coordinated with his body parts. I asked him this morning where his foot was and he actually pointed to it...I am just amazed that he attempts to put on his shoes. Can they pick that up this fast?!

Can't wait to see what will come out of his mouth next...
