9 Months ... and counting!

It's so hard to believe that our little one is 9 months old! It's seem like just yesterday he was 12 lbs and barely rolling over. Now he is unstoppable as he is constantly on the move. I don't even know how to prepare for when he starts walking...most parents say it only gets worse as nothing prepares you for when they start walking. But still, he is crawling everywhere. And when he spots something, he is there in a blink of an eye (with a cute sigh and grunt giving it all his might).

The best is when he crawls to your legs, using your pants as props to pull himself up, and looking up wanting to be held! It's precious!

Everyday is something new. He is graciously clapping his hands when he wants, using his hand to make noises with his mouth and lips and recently learned how to get down from that oh so mighty standing position he loves to put himself in. Graciously realizing there are more ways to come down than just falling to the side, on his head or his tummy. My what a great tool, your cushy tush!

He thinks he can climb up on anything and has mastered the art of opening and closing cabinet doors. Much like the opening and closing of the closet door he learned a month or two ago. And in just a few days each time he opens that cabinet door he is more interested in the contents inside. Like my hairdryer or the pots and pans in the kitchen. Looks like it is time to truly baby proof the house.

We went for his 9 month checkup on Friday, and with him being ill, he lost about 9oz in a week. He is right at 19lbs, which puts him in the 25th percentile for weight. That's a first for us, our little chunky monkey has always been over the 50th percentile. I guess with him being sick and being a finicky eater along with the moto man he has become he is leaning out. The doc said he looks great and will actually start to look really thin in the next few weeks, but he isn't worried it just comes with the age. He is 28 1/2" long, which puts him in the 60th percentile, while his head circumference has put him in the 70th percentile.

Hopefully he will get rid of this picky eating he has developed in the past two weeks. I am chalking it up to him being sick and I truly believe he is teething. My child who has always been a healthy eater and one that loves baby food, no matter what kind. (ok, maybe not peaches) But he normally eats a good healthy 6 oz bottle every 3 hours. Not in the past two weeks. At home he is ok, but at daycare, he will only drink about 2 oz and sometimes completely refuse the bottle. Hopefully, from what I have read it should pass shortly. He has even thrown temper tantrums when trying solid foods...not normal for a baby who loves to eat whatever you are eating!

Oh yeah, and I have to mention he has become quite the talker! I think these two weeks in a room with babies around his age has helped him develop his verbal skills either that or it its just that time. But it's hilarious! Babble this or babble that...and squeals! It's great! Can't get enough of Ma Ma or Da Da...and even Ba Ba!

So all in all, the first 9 months have been a joy and have flown by in a blink of an eye. Hearing that belly ache laugh he does any time daddy gets scruffy or turns him upside down or just making funny faces...the moments are priceless and capture your heart. We can't wait for what more is in store for us!
