While Cuckoo Grammy and Papa John were in town we decided to get out of our every day routine and venture somewhere they hadn't been before, so we went down to Moody Gardens in Galveston. What a sight to see almost 4 months after Hurricane Ike. It was amazing to see the boats that were still a mile or two away from the Gulf and up on land in places you never thought you would see them. Apparently it has been cleaned up a lot compared to what it had looked like, but it was still disheartening to see all the damage. There were still crews on the side of the road picking up debris!
We had called and knew Moody Gardens was open, we didn't know to what extent. Well, we could only see one side and small portion of the aquarium at Moody Gardens because of all the damage they are still trying to repair, they said for at least another 6-9 months!
But it was still fun to see the expressions and the look in Dylan eyes as he saw aquatic life for the first time. He was really intrigued by the seals, blow fish, the scuba diver cleaning the shark aquarium and the penguins, of course!
We decided after we left there to go along the sea wall and see if we couldn't let Dylan see, touch and feel salt water for the first time. It ended up being such a beautiful day! He had lots of fun watching the sea gulls fly by and the wind in his hair.
All in all it was a fun little adventure for the day...and of course I had fun capturing photos of yet another one of Dylan's first experiences.
